Every year the same giveaways land on office desks before 2 December. Flags, pins, caps, mugs and notebooks. Most of them are used for a day and then disappear into a drawer.
A pair of socks in red, green, white and black, with your logo knitted into the cuff, works differently. People wear it on the day of the celebration, and they keep wearing it for months after.
This guide covers what works on a National Day sock, how many pairs to order, and the timeline you need for Flag Day on 3 November and National Day (Eid Al Etihad) on 2 December. If you want the full picture of how our custom orders work, start with our page on custom socks in the UAE.
Why socks work as a National Day giveaway
They get worn on the day. Offices hold celebration days where staff wear national dress or the flag colours, schools hold their assemblies and families get together. A pair of socks in the flag colours is something people put on that morning, not something they have to find a place for.
They outlast the week. Our custom socks are knitted, not printed. The logo is built into the fabric as the sock is made, so there is no printed layer to crack or peel in the wash.
One gift fits the whole team. We can make them free size, or in the sizes you need, including kids sizes.
They come from an Emirati brand. Socks Up is an Emirati sock brand from Abu Dhabi, founded in 2019, with more than 100,000 pairs sold. For a National Day gift, that detail matters to a lot of people.
Who orders National Day socks
Companies. A pair for every employee on the celebration day. Many offices hold theirs on the last working day before the holiday, so plan for that date rather than 2 December.
Schools and nurseries. Kids sizes in the flag colours for the National Day assembly. For nurseries and play rooms where children go without shoes, we make kids socks with grip on the sole, in a choice of more than five grip patterns.
Shops, cafés and gyms. A pair with purchases during National Day week, or a gift for members who come in on the day.
Community events and family days. A giveaway at the entrance that people actually keep.
Design ideas that knit well
National Day designs are simple by nature, and simple is exactly what knitting does best.
Use the flag colours. Stripes or blocks of red, green, white and black read as National Day at a glance. We match the flag colours, and your brand colours, in cotton and polyester yarn, and confirm the closest yarn match with you on the mock up before we knit the sample.
Put your logo where it shows. On crew and quarter length socks, the cuff and the leg sit above the shoe, so that is the best place for your logo. Ankle socks leave very little room above the shoe.
Keep words short and bold. A short Arabic or English word, or a date, works well in a bold font. Thin script and small lettering get lost, because knitting works in stitches, much like pixels.
Leave national symbols off the sock. We advise against putting the flag itself, the national emblem or portraits of leaders on socks. Many people feel these do not belong on feet, and the emblem has official rules on its use. The colours carry the message respectfully.
Fewer colours, bolder shapes. Every colour in a knitted design is its own yarn, so simple designs come out cleaner, up to 5 colours per design. Very complex designs are not always possible, and we check each design before we knit the sample.
How many pairs to order
The minimum is 50 pairs per design.
One design for everyone is the simplest and most efficient order. Staff, guests and customers can all get the same pair.
If you need kids and adult sizes, tell us the split at the start. Each size is produced as its own run, so the split is part of your quote.
Add a small buffer for new joiners, visitors and the colleague who was on leave that week.
The timeline: work backwards from your date
This is where most National Day orders go wrong. The date is fixed, so the plan has to start from it.
- Brief and design. You send your logo and your idea. Design help is included, so we turn it into a sock design and send you a mock up to review, with the closest yarn match for each colour.
- Knitted sample. A real knitted pair in about 3 working days, not a picture on a screen. There is a sample fee, and it is credited against your order.
- Approval. You check the sample, ask for changes if you need them, then approve it.
- Production. 1 to 2 weeks after you approve the sample.
- Delivery. Anywhere in the UAE.
In practice, give yourself 3 to 4 weeks from your first message to the day you need the socks. That leaves room to adjust the design after the sample.
- For Flag Day on 3 November, start in the first half of October.
- For National Day on 2 December, start at the beginning of November, and earlier if your celebration falls on the last working day before the holiday.
If your date is already too close for a knitted run, ask about our ready-made company gift boxes, which come with a card that carries your logo.
What to send for a quote
- Your logo file. Vector is best (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF), and a high resolution PNG works too.
- Roughly how many pairs you need of each design.
- Sock type and length: crew, quarter, ankle or kids, with or without grip.
- Sizes, or free size.
- The date you need them and the emirate we deliver to.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for National Day socks?
50 pairs per design.
How long does it take?
About 3 working days for a knitted sample, then 1 to 2 weeks of production after you approve the sample. Start 3 to 4 weeks before your date.
Can you put the UAE flag on socks?
We recommend the flag colours instead of the flag itself, the national emblem or portraits. Many people feel national symbols do not belong on feet, and the colours say it just as clearly.
Do you make kids sizes for schools and nurseries?
Yes. Kids sizes, with or without grip on the sole.
Do you deliver to every emirate?
Yes. We deliver anywhere in the UAE, and inside the UAE only.
Can we get a VAT invoice?
Yes, on request.
